Taiwo Awoniyi recalled by Nigeria after Osimhen ruled out of 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Taiwo Awoniyi has been called up by Nigeria after Osimhen withdrew from the Super Eagles’ two Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying matches.

The move gives Nigeria an experienced additional option in attack as they prepare for two important games in their bid to reach the tournament.

Awoniyi’s return also provides him with an opportunity to compete for playing time and potentially lead the Super Eagles’ forward line in Osimhen’s absence.
