FIFA Seminar on Synthetic Lawn Management Kicks Off in Dakar
A two-day seminar focused on the management of synthetic lawns in Africa began on Monday in Dakar, bringing together delegates from approximately twenty African countries. The meeting, organized under the auspices of FIFA, aims to address the critical issue of maintaining and properly managing synthetic pitches, which are an essential part of modern football infrastructure across the continent.
At the opening of the seminar, Augustin Senghor, President of the Senegalese Football Federation, emphasized the significance of these synthetic pitches for the development of football in Africa. He pointed out that FIFA, through initiatives like this seminar, aims to ensure that the synthetic pitches funded by the organization are properly maintained and utilized for the benefit of African football. Senghor urged the participants to become advocates in their respective countries against the mismanagement or deterioration of these valuable resources.
“FIFA, through this meeting, wishes to remind everyone of the importance of managing the synthetic lawns it finances across Africa,” Senghor said. “The participants will be the key players in promoting the proper use and management of these infrastructures, which are critical to the development of football on the continent.”
Senghor also announced that Senegal has recently received a new synthetic pitch from FIFA. He noted that, in the coming days, with government approval, efforts will be made to identify the best location for the installation of this new facility, further supporting football development in the country.
The seminar was officially launched by Ibrahima Ndao, Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Minister of Sports, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between African nations to ensure the sustainable management of football infrastructure across the continent.
As the seminar progresses, it is expected to foster greater knowledge-sharing and cooperation among African countries to ensure that FIFA’s investment in synthetic pitches continues to serve as a foundation for football growth throughout Africa.
