As part of FIFA Day on March 5, Switzerland managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Croatia, a result that left Nati defender Johan Djourou satisfied. For the Swiss player of Ivorian descent, this outcome signals positive prospects ahead of their World Cup match against France.
“We managed to contain Croatia, a team of world-class caliber. Similar to France, they pose a significant threat in attack. The upcoming match against France in Brazil will likely present similar offensive challenges,” remarked the defender.
Despite France’s recent performance against the Netherlands in a friendly, Djourou remains unfazed:
“Both the French and Swiss teams are on equal footing at the moment. This parity might not have been evident before, but now, many Swiss players have gained valuable experience in top European clubs,” explained the Hamburg player.
The highly anticipated France-Switzerland World Cup clash is scheduled for June 20 in Salvador de Bahia.
