Swiss Super League side, FC Zurich have completed the signing of French international of Ivorian descent, Benjamin Mendy.
The club officially announced the acquisition of the former Manchester City defender on Tuesday, February 11.
Mendy, joins from French Ligue 1 outfit Lorient FC and has signed a deal until 2026.
“FC Zurich signs French World Champion Benjamin Mendy. The 30-year-old French defender Benjamin Mendy is moving to FC Zurich with immediate effect. He comes to the city club from FC Lorient and has signed a contract until 2026.
“FC Zurich warmly welcomes Benjamin Mendy and wishes him good luck and success during his time at the city club,” the Swiss club announced.
Speaking on the new signing, FCZ President Ancillo Canepa said the club is pleased with the deal.
He noted that the club believes Benjamin Mendy will be a key player for the team.
“We are of course very pleased and also a little proud that we were able to sign such a high-caliber player. He will be an important support, especially for our young players,” Ancillo Canepa said.
