Swedish-Gambian midfielder Imam Jagne has officially returned to Sweden.
After months of speculation, the 21-year-old has signed with IFK Göteborg, the club he once dreamed of representing.
“It feels like coming home,” Jagne said in an official statement via the club’s website. Having previously made a mark at BK Häcken before a brief stint with Everton and two years at Mjällby, the talented midfielder is now ready to wear the Blåvitt colors in front of his hometown fans at Gamla Ullevi.
Jagne had a few offers on the table but knew deep down that Göteborg was his true destination. “It’s my hometown’s big team, and I’ve always been incredibly impressed by the atmosphere at Gamla Ullevi. I long to feel that support behind me,” he added.
IFK Göteborg has secured Jagne’s services with a contract through 2028, reportedly paying Mjällby AIF €433,505 for the promising midfielder. It’s a significant step for both player and club as Jagne embarks on his new chapter at Blåvitt.
