Swedish club Jäis have rejected an offer from Egyptian giants Al Ahly to sign Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabate in the upcoming winter transfer window, with the proposal falling short of the fee the club is demanding.

Jäis are holding out for around 3 million dollars to let go of their standout forward, who has attracted serious attention thanks to his performances and goal return.

The striker is not short of admirers, with clubs in France and Germany also submitting offers, but none have yet met Jäis’s financial expectations. For now, the Swedish side are in a strong position and appear ready to keep their star unless a bid close to their valuation arrives.

Diabate himself is understood to prefer remaining in Europe at this stage of his career, even though he is aware of interest from Arab teams. Reports suggest he would only consider a move to the region if he received an annual salary in the range of 1 to 1.5 million dollars.

Al Ahly, meanwhile, remain determined to sign a powerful foreign centre-forward in January, following a recommendation from Danish head coach Jess Thorup. Strengthening the attacking line is seen as a priority for the second half of the season, but Diabate’s price tag and personal conditions mean the Cairo club may need either to raise their offer significantly or pivot to other targets.
