Swansea City sign Ghana winger Joseph Opoku from Zulte Waregem in €6.5m deal

Swansea City have signed Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku from Belgian side Zulte Waregem in a permanent transfer worth €6.5m. The 20-year-old left-sided attacker has agreed a four-year contract with the Championship club, running until 30 June 2030.

Opoku, who plays primarily as a left winger and favours his right foot, arrives in Wales after helping Zulte Waregem to success in Belgium. He was part of the side that won the Belgian Second League title in the 2024-25 season, a campaign that underlined his impact at senior level. His move to Swansea comes with his market value currently assessed at €4.5m.

Born on 8 August 2005 and standing at 1.72m, Opoku represents Ghana and now makes the step into English football with Swansea, who compete in the Championship. He will wear the number 22 shirt for his new club.

The transfer, completed on 23 July 2026, ends his spell in Belgian football and brings him to Swansea City as a long-term addition to their attacking options.
