Bafétimbi Gomis: A Return to AS Saint-Étienne One Day?
Could Bafétimbi Gomis wear the green jersey of AS Saint-Étienne again? The question was raised during his appearance on Canal Football Club on Canal+, and the Swansea City striker did not rule it out completely.
The French international, who began his professional career at Saint-Étienne and played there from 2003 to 2009, reflected warmly on his time with the club:
“I think it’s a wonderful and great story between ASSE and me — ten good years with ups and downs, as you know. But we’ve been smart enough to maintain a strong and wonderful relationship with the management.”
However, Gomis was realistic about the present circumstances:
“Today, it seems complicated to me… maybe one day.”
Now playing in the Premier League, Gomis remains focused on his current career, but his words suggest that a future return to Les Verts isn’t out of the question — perhaps in a different role, or at the twilight of his playing days.
For now, it’s a door that’s not quite closed — but certainly not wide open either.
