Super Globe: الاهلي and الزمالك to meet in historic bronze-medal match

The final-day schedule for the IHF Men’s Club World Championship, known as the Super Globe, has been revised, with الاهلي and الزمالك now set to contest the bronze medal on Thursday 1 October.

The tournament will conclude with four classification matches at the indoor hall in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.

الاهلي’s meeting with الزمالك is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, marking the first time in the competition’s history that two Egyptian teams have faced one another.

The bronze-medal match will be preceded by the fifth-place play-off between German side Fuchse Berlin and Brazilian club Pinheiros, which will start at 4:00pm.

The opening match of the final day will determine seventh and eighth place, with Moroccan side Montada Derb Sultan playing Kuwait’s Burgan at 1:30pm.

The final of the tournament is scheduled for 9:00pm and will see Spanish club Barcelona face Hungarian side Veszprem.

All four matches will be played at the indoor hall in the New Administrative Capital, where Egypt is hosting the Super Globe for the third consecutive edition.

The revised programme means the competition’s closing day will feature matches deciding every position from seventh place through to the title, with particular attention on the all-Egyptian contest for bronze.

The encounter between الاهلي and الزمالك will be the first match between two teams from Egypt in the history of the tournament.
