Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade scores first PSG goal in 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in UWCL
Nigeria Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored her first goal for Paris Saint-Germain Féminines on Thursday night, but it was not enough to save the French side from a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Coming off a 4-0 loss to Wolfsburg in their opening group game, PSG were eager to make amends but fell behind in the 29th minute when Naomie Feller converted a low cross from Yasmim Ribeiro after sustained Madrid pressure.
The visitors doubled their lead just before halftime, with Caroline Weir’s strike rebounding off the post for Alba Redondo to slot home, giving Real Madrid a comfortable 2-0 advantage at the break.
PSG responded strongly in the second half, and their persistence was rewarded in the 62nd minute when Ajibade rose to meet Sakina Karchaoui’s precise cross, heading in to reduce the deficit and ignite hopes of a comeback.
Despite their late push, PSG could not find an equaliser, as Madrid’s defence held firm to claim all three points and maintain their perfect start to the group stage.
The result leaves PSG with back-to-back defeats in the competition, increasing the pressure ahead of their next UEFA Women’s Champions League clash against Manchester United.
