Nigeria’s Super Eagles will conduct a closed-door training session on Sunday as they prepare for their crucial sixth match in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe.
However, Monday’s session will allow limited media access for the mandatory 15 minutes following the official press conference.
According to reports, head coach Eric Chelle has also imposed strict access restrictions at the team’s base at the Four Point Hotel in Ikot Ikenne.
Neither journalists nor visitors will be permitted, with the coach aiming to ensure maximum concentration ahead of Tuesday’s fixture against Zimbabwe.
Both the Nigerian and Zimbabwean squads arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday, landing at the Victor Attah International Airport.
The Super Eagles were the first to arrive, with Zimbabwe’s delegation touching down a few hours later.
The Nigerian side approaches this encounter with renewed confidence, following a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali.
The win marked a crucial turnaround for the team, which had struggled earlier in the qualifiers, securing just one win in five matches.
Before their victory against Rwanda, the Super Eagles recorded three draws and a defeat, placing them in a challenging position in their bid for World Cup qualification.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe faces an uphill battle, still in search of their first victory in the qualifying campaign.
The Warriors have endured a difficult run, managing only three draws alongside two defeats in their five previous outings.
They will be keen to change their fortunes against Nigeria.
The Super Eagles will be looking to build on their recent success and solidify their position in the qualification standings, while Zimbabwe aims to claim a much-needed win to revive their World Cup hopes.
With both teams under pressure to deliver, Tuesday’s clash is set to be a highly competitive encounter.
