South African midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi is confident about Mamelodi Sundowns chances ahead of the CAF Champions League semifinals encounter against Al Ahly.
Sundown will play host to the Egyptian giants on Saturday, April 19, 2025 as both teams battle for a place in the finals of this year’s competition.
Having suffered elimination from the Cup competition in South Africa, Vilakazi, who is former player of Sundowns is urging the club to focus on the Champions League clash, claiming the South African side has the formula to over their opponent.
“Is this pressure to be feared, or pressure they want? However the Nedbank Cup exit happened, you need to move on. You still have to come back. They should be eager to play in this game because that’s where you want to be, regardless of the previous result.
They’ve had good results against Al Ahly, including in the African Football League. They have the formula to overcome Al Ahly. You’d want to look at those games and understand how you performed. You don’t want to concede because one goal gives them life.
It’s very important, but I’ve looked at the results of their games, and they found the formula. It was a tough lock to pick. Now Sundowns have found that key, and you can beat them. They can be beaten,” Vilakazi stated in an interview with Soccer Laduma.
