Sunderland attacker Simon Adingra could miss out on Ivory Coast squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be staged in Morocco this month.

Adingra, who gained prominence during the 2023 AFCON tournament, held on home soil has struggled for playing time, since joining Sunderland from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer.

He has been relegated to the bench for several weeks and is struggling to regain a starting position. Since returning from injury on November 3rd, he has only accumulated 27 minutes of playing time in three matches.

During the recent weekend match against Bournemouth, the Ivory Coast international remained on the bench for the entire game, highlighting his precarious situation within his Premier League team.

This lack of match fitness and delicate sporting situation could have serious consequences for his participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast coach Emerse Fae has yet to release his final squad for the upcoming AFCO0N tournament Scheduled between December 2025 and January 2026.
