Sunderland express interest in Nigeria midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru ahead of winter window

Premier League outfit Sunderland have expressed firm interest in Nigerian international Fisayo Dele-Bashiru ahead of winter window.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who joined Lazio in the summer could cut his spell short at the club amid growing interest.

The Italian outfit are reportedly open to parting ways with the Nigerian international just months after he arrived from Turkish Super Lig club Hatayspor at the start of the 2024/25 season.

Despite being under contract until 2028, Dele-Bashiru could depart the club in the winter window, with Sunderland expressing strong interest in the midfielder.

Dele-Bashiru enjoyed an impressive campaign last year, registering five goals and three assists in 28 appearances across all competitions for the White and Blues.

His performances earned him a move to Italy, where he has since made four Serie A appearances under Maurizio Sarri this season.

Since making his debut for Nigeria in 2023, the midfielder has made nine appearances for the Super Eagles, scoring two goals across the period.
