Premier League returnees Sunderland have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Ivorian winger Simon Adingra.
The deal is reportedly worth £18 million upfront, with an additional £2.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
The 23-year-old has already arrived in the North East via private jet and is undergoing a medical.
Adingra has also agreed to personal terms with the Black Cats, paving the way for the move to be finalised.
Sunderland previously attempted to land the winger during the January transfer window in a proposed swap deal involving Tommy Watson, but the move collapsed late on.
Adingra becomes Sunderland’s fifth signing of the summer, pushing the club’s total transfer expenditure this window past the £100 million mark.
