Suleiman Abubakar: Nigerian goalkeeper joins Kano Pillars from Niger Tornadoes

Nigerian goalkeeper Suleiman Abubakar has joined Kano Pillars from fellow NPFL side Niger Tornadoes. The 20-year-old moves within the Nigerian top flight as he continues his senior career with one of the country’s most established clubs.

Abubakar, born on 4 January 2006, arrives at Kano Pillars as a specialist goalkeeper and will add depth to the squad’s options in that position. The transfer has been completed ahead of the 2026–27 season, with the move registered on 24 July 2026.

The switch marks a significant step for Abubakar, who leaves Niger Tornadoes to link up with a club that has regularly competed at the top end of the Nigerian league. His move keeps him in familiar surroundings in the NPFL while placing him in a new dressing room and environment.

Abubakar had been on the books of Niger Tornadoes immediately prior to the transfer and now continues his development in Kano. His arrival also maintains Kano Pillars’ policy of recruiting domestic talent from within the league structure.

The Nigeria youth heads into the new campaign as Kano Pillars’ latest goalkeeping recruit, completing a direct move from Niger Tornadoes to the NPFL side.
