Sudan’s national team has received a significant boost ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, as head coach James Kwesi Appiah has finally joined the squad in Saudi Arabia for a 12-day training camp.
The Ghanaian coach had initially withheld his participation due to unpaid salary arrears, raising concerns about the team’s preparations.
However, the dispute has now been resolved, and Appiah has reunited with his players.
His assistants, Ignatius Osei Fosu and Eric Amponsah, had already arrived in Saudi Arabia last Thursday to oversee the early stages of training.
Key Fixtures on the Horizon
Currently leading Group B with 10 points, Sudan faces a defining period in their bid for World Cup qualification.
The Falcons of Jediane are set to take on Senegal on March 18, followed by a crucial clash against South Sudan on March 24 in the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifiers.
To refine their tactics and fitness levels ahead of these encounters, the Sudanese team has scheduled a friendly against Jordan.
The squad will then travel to Libya on March 17 for their final adjustments before the competitive fixtures begin.
With Appiah now fully involved in the preparations, Sudan will be hoping to maintain their strong form and secure a place in the next stage of qualification.
