Sudan mini-league begins as Al Hilal Omdurman open campaign against Al Fallah
The Sudan mini-league gets underway today, marking the start of a crucial qualifying battle for places in next season’s African interclub competitions, with Al Hilal Omdurman opening their campaign against Al Fallah in the tournament’s first fixture.
The competition features eight teams competing for limited continental slots, with high stakes from the outset as clubs aim to secure qualification for the 2026/27 CAF interclub season.
Under the qualification structure, the top two finishers will earn places in the CAF Champions League, while the third-placed team—alongside the domestic cup winner—will progress to the CAF Confederation Cup.
Sudan, ranked among Africa’s leading football nations, is allocated two representatives in CAF club competitions, intensifying the competition within the mini-league format.
With continental qualification at stake, the opening fixtures are expected to set the tone for a tightly contested campaign as clubs battle for a place among Africa’s elite.
