Wenger Fires Back at Gerrard Over Luis Suarez Remarks
When Steven Gerrard said he advised Luis Suarez against joining Arsenal because the Uruguayan was “too good” for the club, Arsène Wenger didn’t stay silent for long.
At a press conference, Wenger firmly responded to Gerrard’s “provocation”:
“You are never too good for Arsenal, and Steven Gerrard knows that.”
Wenger also took a subtle jab at Liverpool, now missing Suarez after his move to Barcelona:
“I totally understand Gerrard wanted Suarez to stay—he wanted to play with him and have a chance to win the league. But that didn’t happen, and anyway, Suarez left.”
