Stromae, the Belgian international star, has recently unveiled the teaser for his new music video, “Your Party,” which serves as the Red Devils’ anthem for the World Cup in Brazil. However, there has been some controversy as some Belgians have expressed dissatisfaction with the choice.
In response to the criticism, Stefan Van Loock, the spokesperson for the Belgian Union, defended Stromae’s selection, emphasizing his status as a Belgian star and the popularity of his music among both French and Flemish-speaking fans. Despite receiving over 50 applications for the World Cup anthem, Stromae’s project was chosen quickly due to his widespread appeal.
Van Loock stated that there are no plans to create versions of the anthem in other languages and affirmed that Stromae’s version will remain the official anthem for the Red Devils. He expressed confusion over the controversy surrounding the choice of Stromae and emphasized the Union’s confidence in their decision.
