Strasbourg’s Dutch-Togolese striker Emanuel Emegha shines in 2025 resurgence

Chelsea target Dutch-Togolese striker Emanuel Emegha in summer transfer move

Emanuel Emegha’s goal-scoring form has been pivotal in Strasbourg’s impressive run in 2025, with the Dutch-Togolese forward leading his team to victory against Auxerre in Ligue 1.

Emegha’s decisive strike at the Abbé-Deschamps Stadium helped Strasbourg secure a 1-0 win, extending their unbeaten streak to four matches without conceding a goal.

The victory marks the first time Auxerre have lost at home since September, boosting Strasbourg’s hopes of securing a European qualification spot.

The 22-year-old forward, who joined Strasbourg from Sturm Graz for €13 million, has emerged as a key figure in the squad, scoring eight goals in his last nine appearances.

His consistent performances have played a crucial role in Strasbourg’s rise to within two points of sixth place, which could offer a route to the UEFA Conference League.

Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior praised Emegha’s contributions, highlighting his hard work and impact on the team’s pressing style.

“His statistics speak for him. We missed him when he was absent, on his goals but also his energy, his pressing, his impact on opposing defences,” said Rosenior.

“Ema’ is arriving at a point in his career where he is becoming more and more consistent but he understands that it comes from work.

What I like most is the message he wants to convey: the harder you work, the more chances you will create and the more goals you will score.”

Emegha’s confidence has been on full display, with notable performances against Lens and Marseille.

After scoring a late winner against Lens, the striker celebrated by holding up his shirt in front of the home supporters, drawing comparisons to Lionel Messi’s iconic celebration.

Reflecting on his duel with Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi, Emegha displayed his self-assurance.

“He couldn’t catch me, so he didn’t stop making mistakes. He was just fighting and provoking me. He’s a little guy for me,” Emegha remarked.

With Strasbourg continuing their pursuit of European football, Emegha’s goal-scoring exploits and growing leadership will be vital in their quest for success.
