Steven Nufour leaves Criciuma to become a free agent

Ghanaian midfielder Steven Nufour has left Brazilian club Criciuma and become a free agent, ending his spell with the Serie B side at the age of 21.

Nufour’s departure was completed on 19 August 2026 after he had spent the previous season with Criciuma’s senior squad. The defensive midfielder made one appearance in Serie B, playing one minute, and also featured in domestic competitions during his time at the club.

The Accra-born player joined Criciuma from Criciuma Under-20s on 1 January 2026, having previously moved from Ceara Under-20s. He joined Ceara from Ghanaian club Dansoman Wise in July 2023.

Before progressing to Criciuma’s first team, Nufour recorded nine appearances for the club in the CBF Brasileiro Under-20 competition, playing 498 minutes. He also featured in the Copinha, Copa do Nordeste and Campeonato Catarinense.

At 1.91m, Nufour has been listed as a defensive midfielder and uses his right foot. His departure brings an end to his time in the Criciuma set-up after he made the transition from youth football to senior competition earlier in 2026.

Nufour is now without a club following his completed departure from Criciuma.
