Steven Gerrard wants Michael Olise at Liverpool

Steven Gerrard has admitted he would love to see Michael Olise in a Liverpool shirt one day, but he doubts the Bayern Munich star will be tempted to leave Germany any time soon.

The former Reds captain pointed to Bayern’s current strength and ambitions as a major barrier to any potential move.

“The problem is, why should he leave Bayern? It’s a huge club, they are fighting for major trophies, and it’s perhaps the strongest Bayern team we’ve seen in recent years,” Gerrard said, highlighting the environment Olise is thriving in. He added that the Frenchman is gearing up to “take the World Cup by storm this summer” and looks settled and happy where he is.

“I don’t think he’s going anywhere. But yes, I would love to see him at Liverpool, and you know what? I also wouldn’t mind seeing [Luis] Diaz return. I miss him,” Gerrard continued, revealing his affection for both attackers.

Olise is backing up that praise on the pitch, with 16 goals and 29 assists in 41 club appearances this season, underlining his status as one of Europe’s most productive playmakers.
