Steve Traore: Benin winger signs for Bulgarian side Montana after spell without club

Benin and France winger Steve Traore has joined Bulgarian side Montana on a free transfer after a brief spell without a club. The 28-year-old right-sided attacker arrives in the Vtora Liga with a deal confirmed on 24 July 2026.

Traore, born in Paris and standing at 1.68m, is primarily a right winger and is right-footed, adding pace and width to Montana’s attacking options. He had been unattached since leaving Finnish club FC Haka in May 2025, and now resumes his career in Bulgaria’s second tier.

The move continues Traore’s growing familiarity with Bulgarian football. He previously played in the country’s top flight, the efbet Liga, where he made 56 appearances, scoring six goals and providing four assists. That spell, including time at Beroe and Loko Sofia, also brought experience in the Bulgarian Cup.

Before his return to Bulgaria, Traore featured for Haka in Finland, appearing in both the Veikkausliiga and Liigacup, where he registered an assist in each competition. Earlier in his career he played in the French lower divisions with Bourges 18, US Creteil B and Sainte-Genevieve, gaining experience in National 1 and National 2.

Traore’s move to Montana comes with his current market value listed at €50,000, reflecting his status as an experienced wide option with a track record across several European leagues. The winger now begins a new chapter in the Vtora Liga as a confirmed signing for Montana.
