Steve Delacour joins UConn Huskies from US Alencon on free transfer

France and Cameroon attacking midfielder Steve Delacour has joined UConn Huskies from French club US Alencon on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old completed the move on 14 September 2026, bringing an end to his time with Alencon after less than three months at the National 2 club. Delacour is listed as an attacking midfielder and will continue his career with the University of Connecticut side.

Delacour was born in Douala and holds French and Cameroonian nationality. He is 1.74m tall and began his senior career with US Alencon, having previously come through youth football at Alencon Youth and Le Mans FC.

His footballing pathway has included several moves between French clubs. He joined the Le Mans FC Under-17 set-up from Alencon Youth in 2016, progressed to the Under-18s and Under-19s, and then moved into senior football with US Alencon in 2020.

After joining Alencon’s senior squad, Delacour switched to FC Mulhouse in July 2021. He returned to US Alencon a year later before leaving for AS Furiani in July 2024. His spell at Furiani lasted two seasons, with the midfielder returning to Alencon on 11 July 2026.

Delacour’s second spell at US Alencon ended before he made a league appearance in the 2026-27 campaign. He was listed in the squad for the Championnat National 2 – Groupe B, but had recorded no appearances, goals, assists or minutes before his departure.

UConn Huskies are the latest destination in a career that has so far been played across French youth and senior football. The move also represents a change of footballing environment for Delacour, who now leaves the French National 2 structure for the Connecticut university programme.

His arrival was recorded as a free transfer, with no transfer fee attached to the move. Delacour has therefore completed his switch from US Alencon to UConn Huskies as an unattached-cost signing on 14 September 2026.
