Stellenbosch is in my head right now and nothing more – Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has made it clear that his full attention is locked on Wednesday’s Betway Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC, stressing discipline, focus, and a game-by-game mentality as the season reaches a demanding stage.
Sundowns host Stellenbosch at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday, 22 April, with kick-off set for 7:30pm, in a fixture that forms part of a congested run of matches for the reigning giants.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Cardoso underlined the intensity of the challenge his side faces and the mindset required to navigate it successfully.
“We’re going to fight a lot to win for sure… a lot, a lot, until the last minute. We are very committed to that. Having [a] positive approach is very important.
“But look, what is in my head right now, let me tell you, it’s Stellenbosch on Wednesday. That’s in my head right now and nothing more. Tomorrow, I will think about Stellenbosch, there is no doubt.
“After Richards Bay, it’s Polokwane (City), and after Polokwane, it’s Polokwane. That’s what we have to do. Seven games, 21 days, it’s difficult, but we will do it,” he added.
Cardoso’s comments reflect the pressure of a packed schedule that will test squad depth and consistency as Sundowns continue their pursuit of domestic dominance.
The Portuguese coach’s “one game at a time” approach comes as the Pretoria-based side prepare for a decisive stretch of fixtures that could shape the closing stages of their league campaign.
