Stellenbosch FC has announced that it will relocate its CAF Confederation Cup fixtures to various stadiums across South Africa after their home venue, Danie Craven Stadium, failed to meet the required standards set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The club’s upcoming match against RS Berkane on December 8 will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Stellenbosch will then host Lunda Sul at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on January 5, before playing Stade Malien at Cape Town Stadium on January 12.

The Danie Craven Stadium was deemed unfit for CAF competition after significant damage was discovered on the pitch during the MTN8 quarter-final against TS Galaxy in August.

The condition of the playing surface drew strong criticism, particularly from former Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic, who expressed concerns over its quality.

Despite the inconvenience of relocating their matches, Stellenbosch FC remains determined to represent both the club and the city on the continental stage.

The club has called on its supporters to continue backing them at the alternative venues.

Stellenbosch’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign has gotten off to a rocky start, following a 2-0 defeat to Stade Malien in their opening group match.

Nonetheless, the club is focused on securing positive results as they continue their pursuit of success in Africa’s second-tier club competition.
