Stanley Nsoki sidelined by injury during Union Berlin pre-season
Stanley Nsoki is currently missing from Union Berlin’s pre-season action, and the reason appears to be injury-related.
The 27-year-old French centre-back has not featured in any of the club’s summer friendlies so far, leaving new coach Mauro Lustrinelli to test other defensive pairings instead.
Union have not revealed the exact issue or how long Nsoki will be out, but the absence is a concern given his importance in central defence. It is also not the first time injuries have disrupted his preparations, as he missed the entire pre-season and the opening competitive matches last year as well.
On 24 July 2025, Nsoki by for Union Berlin on loan where he made 13 appearances and scored one goal. He returned to Union Berlin on a permanent basis on 1st July 2026.
For Union, the timing is unfortunate but manageable. With several centre-backs competing for minutes, Lustrinelli has used the early warm-up games to compare combinations and assess who can step into the back line if needed. Nsoki now has to wait for his chance to rejoin that battle once he is fully fit again.
