Stanley Nsoki is a doubt for Heidenheim clash
Stanley Nsoki’s place in Union Berlin’s matchday squad remains uncertain ahead of the weekend clash with Heidenheim.
The 27-year-old defender was left out entirely in the recent 1–1 draw against St. Pauli, a notable change after he had been filling in on the left side of the back three for the injured Diogo Leite. With Leite now back in the starting lineup, Nsoki suddenly found himself not even on the bench, raising fresh questions about his immediate role under Steffen Baumgart.
Baumgart played down the situation in his press conference, stressing that Nsoki has reacted professionally and continues to train well. “He presented himself completely normally and took it the way it should have been taken”, explained the coach, adding that the Frenchman accepted the call and has “Trained properly, like the entire team”.
Whether Nsoki returns to the squad against Heidenheim will only be decided at short notice on Friday, as the staff weigh up their defensive options and overall squad balance for another important Bundesliga fixture.
