STANDARD LIÈGE: RICARDO FATY CLOSE TO BURSASPOR DEPARTURE DESPITE PROMISING START
While Eyong Enoh has extended his contract with Standard Liège, fellow midfielder Ricardo Faty appears to be on his way out. According to La Dernière Heure, the Senegalese international, who had been converted into a central defender earlier this season, is nearing a move to Bursaspor in Turkey.
Faty was already tipped to leave in July, as Standard’s management did not see him as a long-term option, prompting the arrival of El Messaoudi to challenge Enoh. However, former coach Slavo Muslin was impressed by Faty’s professionalism, versatility, and attitude, and made him a regular fixture in his lineup.
Having joined from Ajaccio in 2014, Faty’s debut season at Standard was a mixed bag. After initially earning a starting role, his performances fluctuated, and he eventually lost his spot to Enoh in the second half of the campaign. Despite expressing his desire to stay, the club’s coaching change and evolving dynamics have pushed him closer to the exit door.
Faty started preseason 2015 with renewed determination under the new coach, hoping to turn things around—but with Muslin’s departure, his future at the club now looks uncertain.
