Faycal Kasmi Joins Standard Liège on Loan from Lierse
Faycal Kasmi, the promising young Belgian midfielder of Moroccan descent, will wear the colours of Standard Liège for the 2015–2016 season after securing a loan move from Lierse SK, with an option to buy. The agreement between the two Belgian clubs allows Kasmi to take a major step forward in his career by joining one of the country’s most prestigious sides.
The 19-year-old, who was born in Antwerp on October 31, 1995, couldn’t hide his excitement at the move. Speaking to the club’s media, Kasmi expressed deep admiration for Standard and its passionate supporters at Sclessin.
“Standard is a very big club, which will allow me to look up and not down,” he said. “When you travel here to Sclessin as an opponent, one thing strikes you: the enthusiasm of this crowd.”
Kasmi also shared his ambitions for the upcoming season:
“What do I hope for? To be champion of course, but also to beat the big teams in the championship, to play well, and to prove that we know how to play football.”
A technically gifted attacking midfielder, Kasmi began his professional career with Lierse in 2013 and made notable progress in the 2014–2015 season, scoring four goals in 17 league appearances. His creativity and eye for goal have made him one of Belgium’s rising talents, and the move to Standard offers a chance to compete at a higher level and further his development.
For Standard, the signing reflects a continued focus on young, homegrown talent with the potential to shine both domestically and on the European stage.
