Liège – Sambou Yatabaré, a key figure in Yannick Ferrera’s system for several weeks, may be heading for an unexpected winter departure from Standard Liège. According to Belgian daily *Le Soir*, the Malian international is attracting interest from Germany, with Werder Bremen reportedly the frontrunner.
Currently on loan from Olympiacos, Yatabaré is reportedly receptive to a move to the Bundesliga. For the transfer to materialize, Olympiacos would first need to recall him, compensate Standard for the premature end of the loan, and then finalize a sale to Werder Bremen.
Having not played for Olympiacos this season, the midfielder’s exit seems feasible. Standard, which holds an option to buy Yatabaré, could receive a substantial compensation package should the deal go through.
