Stallions gallop past Djibouti in 4-1 2026 World Cup qualifier rout

In a thrilling FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier on March 21, 2025, Burkina Faso showcased their dominance, dismantling Djibouti 4-1 at Stade Ben Ahmed El Abdi.

The Stallions wasted no time asserting control, with Josué Tiendrebeogo opening the scoring in the 12th minute. Captain Bertrand Traoré doubled the lead in the 33rd, weaving through defenders with finesse.

After the break, debutant Mohamed Zougrana marked his first cap with a clinical 47th-minute strike, followed by a fourth from Lassina Traore in the 68th minute assisted by Dango Ouattara.

Djibouti’s late consolation goal in the 80th minute through Samuel Akinbinu’s penalty offered little solace against Burkina Faso’s relentless attack.

Group A Standings: Egypt leads with 10 points, Burkina Faso sits 2nd with 8 points, Sierra Leone with 8 points, Guinea Bissau with 6 points, Ethiopia with 3 points while Djibouti languish in 6th with 1 point.

Next Games: Burkina Faso face Guinea-Bissau on March 24, 2025; Djibouti take on Ethiopia on March 24, 2025. The Stallions are charging toward qualification!
