French Ligue 1 side, Stade Rennes honoured defender, Alidu Seidu in their 5-0 win against Saint Etienne on Saturday at the Roazhon Park.

Amine Gouiri struck home the 3rd for Rennes, and his goal celebration was a touch of class, dedicated to teammate Alidu Seidu who has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

The Algerian pulled out the Ghana international’s jersey amidst loud applause from the home fans.

Forward Atnaud Kalimuendo bagged a hat trick, with Ludovic Blas adding the other for Rennes who moved up to 12th on the Ligue 1 standings.

Seidu had played every game for Rennes this season until the devastating injury last weekend.

He is expected to be out of action for the next 8-9 months. It is expected that Seidu will miss Ghana’s 2026 World Cup games against Chad and Madagascar scheduled for March 2025.
