Stade Rennes make Senegal striker Boulaye Dia top target

Stade Rennes have reportedly made Senegal international Boulaye Dia their top transfer target as the French club intensifies its efforts to strengthen the attack before the summer transfer window closes.

The Ligue 1 side is pushing to bring the 29-year-old striker back to France and has already opened negotiations with Lazio over a potential transfer.

According to reports, Rennes have submitted an offer of around €10 million for Dia. However, the proposal is understood to have fallen short of Lazio’s valuation, with the Italian club reportedly demanding close to €15 million for the Senegalese forward.

Dia remains under contract with Lazio until 2028, putting the Serie A club in a strong negotiating position. Nevertheless, talks between the two clubs are continuing as Rennes look to find an agreement before the transfer deadline.

While the clubs are yet to settle on a fee, Dia is reportedly already in favour of the move. The Senegal international is said to have given his personal approval to joining Rennes, with the opportunity to return to Ligue 1 appealing to the experienced striker.

A move to Rennes would see Dia return to a league where he first established himself on the European stage.

The striker spent three seasons with Stade de Reims between 2018 and 2021, making a name for himself with his goalscoring performances before earning a move to Villarreal in Spain.

He later continued his career in Italy with Salernitana before joining Lazio, where he has remained an important attacking option.

Now, with Rennes pushing to secure his signature, Dia could be on the verge of another chapter in his career in French football.

The player’s willingness to make the move could prove crucial in the negotiations, but Rennes will still need to bridge the gap between their €10 million offer and Lazio’s reported €15 million asking price.

With the transfer window entering its final days, discussions between the two clubs are expected to intensify as Rennes attempt to complete a deal for the Senegalese international.
