Stade Rennais coach Habib Beye has revealed that Morocco defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal sustained a muscle injury during Rennes’ recent Ligue 1 clash.

The announcement followed Rennes’ 3‑1 loss to RC Lens on Saturday, a match that also saw 20‑year-old center-back Jérémy Jacquet forced off with a serious shoulder injury. Speaking to the media after the game, Beye provided an update on both players.

“For Jérémy, it’s his shoulder, and for Abdelhamid, it’s muscular,” Beye said. “We’ll need time to assess, but both injuries are quite serious.”

Aït Boudlal has emerged as one of Rennes’ most promising young talents and has been a regular fixture in the team this season. The coach did not specify a return date, emphasizing that the club will take a cautious, “wait-and-see” approach until medical scans are complete.

Jacquet’s visible discomfort during the match only added to Rennes’ challenges, highlighting the need to carefully manage both players’ recoveries while maintaining team performance.

Known for his physicality and composure, Aït Boudlal has also contributed a few goals from set pieces this season. His injury is a significant blow as Rennes push for a European spot and aim to make a deep cup run.

The club now awaits medical evaluations to determine the severity of Aït Boudlal’s setback.
