Mohamed El Shorbagy, the Egyptian squash player and double world junior champion, achieved his first World Series tournament victory by winning the Qatar Classic in Doha. In the final, he defeated three-time English world champion Nick Matthew in a closely contested match, securing a 3-2 victory (11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-4). El Shorbagy, ranked 6th in the world at the age of 22, had previously reached the final of a World Series tournament in 2012, where he was defeated by fellow Egyptian Ramy Ashour. The 2013 Qatar Classic saw the surprising early exits of favorites Gregory Gaultier and James Willstrop.
