SportPesa has called for a thorough and independent investigation into ongoing issues within the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), while reaffirming its long-term commitment to the growth of football in Kenya.

In a statement released on Monday, April 27, 2026, the betting firm said it had taken note of recent developments within the federation and stressed that its primary interest remains the continued growth, stability, and integrity of the sport.

As title sponsors of the SportPesa League and partners in a 10-year agreement, the company said it remains focused on the wider sports ecosystem in which it has invested.

SportPesa highlighted what it described as meaningful progress made by Kenyan football in recent years, including the successful hosting of the CHAN 2025 tournament, the Junior Starlets’ historic first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification, the Harambee Starlets’ qualification for WAFCON 2026, and Kenya’s hosting of the FIFA Women’s Series.

The company also praised improvements in the domestic league, citing better organization of the top-flight competition, increased visibility for clubs and players, and stronger engagement with commercial partners.

According to the statement, efforts to rebuild trust in football governance, encourage collaboration among stakeholders, and strengthen national team structures have also contributed positively to the game.

However, SportPesa noted that allegations currently under review should be subjected to due process, insisting that any proposed leadership changes within FKF must follow proper procedures.

“We call for a swift, transparent, and fair resolution that upholds accountability while safeguarding the integrity and progress of Kenyan football,” the statement read.

SportPesa added that players, clubs, supporters, and the broader sports economy must remain at the center of all decisions taken regarding the future of the game.
