Sporting prepare bid for Venezia midfielder Issa Doumbia
Sporting are set to meet with Venezia officials in Milan on Monday to discuss the potential transfer of midfielder Issa Doumbia, according to football insider Nicolo Schira.
The Italian club values the 22-year-old at €25 million, including performance-related bonuses. Doumbia has already agreed personal terms with the Portuguese side and is ready to sign a contract until 2031.
Sporting are preparing an opening bid worth around €18-20 million, which falls short of Venezia’s asking price but significantly exceeds the €15 million plus bonuses offered by Lisbon rivals Benfica. The Eagles were previously linked with a move for the Italian youth international but appear to have fallen behind in the race.
Despite being valued at just €8 million, Doumbia’s market price has surged following an impressive breakout campaign. The dynamic midfielder has delivered outstanding performances this season, contributing 10 goals and 5 assists across 38 appearances in all competitions.
His current contract with Venezia runs until June 30, 2029, giving the Serie B club a strong negotiating position as they look to maximize their return on one of their brightest talents.
