SPORTING PORTUGAL CLOSE TO SIGNING KEVIN-PRINCE BOATENG
After parting ways with Schalke 04, Kevin-Prince Boateng appears poised for a new chapter in his career — this time in Portugal. According to reports from Record and Bild, the 28-year-old Ghanaian international is on the verge of signing a two-year contract with Sporting Portugal.
Boateng is expected to arrive in Lisbon on Tuesday to finalize the deal. While his current salary of €7.5 million per year at Schalke had initially seemed out of reach for the Portuguese side, negotiations have progressed favorably.
Should the deal go through, Sporting would be securing a major reinforcement. The experienced midfielder has featured in the UEFA Champions League with both AC Milan and Schalke 04, bringing valuable European pedigree to the Lisbon-based club, who are set to compete in the Champions League play-offs this season after finishing third in the Primeira Liga.
Boateng’s potential arrival could significantly boost Sporting’s ambitions both domestically and in Europe.
