Sporting linked with Morocco-Belgium teenager Moncef Zekri
Moncef Zekri, the Morocco and Belgium defender at KV Mechelen, has been linked with a move to Sporting in Portugal.
The 17-year-old left-back has made one appearance in the Jupiler Pro League this season, starting and completing the 90 minutes. He was also named in KV Mechelen’s senior squad after joining the club from Jong KVM in July 2025.
Zekri’s reported market value is €4m, while his contract with the Belgian club runs until 30 June 2028. Those terms mean KV Mechelen are under no immediate pressure to release him and could seek a significant fee if Sporting’s interest develops into a formal approach.
Born in Brussels, Zekri is eligible to represent both Morocco and Belgium. He won the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco in 2025, adding an international honour to his early senior career.
The possible move would take him from the Belgian top flight to Liga Portugal, although there is no indication that an agreement has been reached between the clubs. For now, Zekri remains a KV Mechelen player and has featured in all of the club’s available league minutes this season.
