Sporting CP plan loan exit for struggling Souleymane Faye
Sporting CP are exploring a loan move for Senegalese winger Souleymane Faye after his January transfer failed to deliver.
The €6.5 million signing from Granada has not justified the fee, making just nine appearances and playing only 161 minutes without standing out.
The 23-year-old is not in Sporting’s plans for next season, and the club is now working with his representatives to find a solution. According to A BOLA, a return to Spain’s second division looks most likely, where Faye previously impressed for Granada with two goals and six assists in 21 matches during the first half of 2025-26.
Sporting believe regular playing time elsewhere could help Faye regain form and rebuild his value, even if his long-term future lies away from Lisbon. A loan exit remains the preferred option, giving the winger a chance to prove himself while allowing Sporting to move forward without a permanent sale.
The situation highlights the risks of high-profile transfers that don’t gel immediately, as Sporting seek a practical solution for a player who once showed promise in La Liga but has yet to find his rhythm in Portugal.
