The Ivorian Ligue 1 LONACI concluded on Saturday, June 1, 2024, with the relegation of Sporting Club de Gagnoa and ASI d’Abengourou to Ligue 2. The 2023-2024 season was fraught with challenges for both clubs, which struggled to find consistent form and ultimately failed to secure enough points to avoid the drop.

Throughout the season, both teams experienced fluctuations in performance but were unable to string together the results needed to stay in the top flight.

Despite moments of promise, they were unable to escape the relegation zone by the end of the 30th matchday.

Sporting Club de Gagnoa finished 15th in the league with 28 points and a goal difference of -18. Similarly, ASI d’Abengourou ended the season at the bottom of the table, securing 26 points with a goal difference of -19.

Their positions in the red zone of the standings sealed their fate, condemning them to compete in Ligue 2 next season.

Despite their efforts, both clubs will need to regroup and prepare for the challenges ahead in the lower division.

The upcoming season in Ligue 2 will be crucial as they aim to rebuild and strive for a swift return to the Ivorian football elite.

The relegation comes as a significant setback for the clubs, which will now focus on restructuring and improving their squads to mount a serious challenge for promotion.

The objective will be clear: to regain their place in Ligue 1 and restore pride to their supporters.

The journey ahead will be demanding, but with determination and strategic planning, Sporting Club de Gagnoa and ASI d’Abengourou can aspire to make a strong comeback.

The experience gained from this season’s struggles will be invaluable as they navigate the path to recovery and aim to achieve success in Ligue 2.
