Spanish-Moroccan winger Lamine Yamal unavailable for Champions League against Newcastle United
Spain international of Moroccan descent Lamine Yamal will not be available for Barcelona’s upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Newcastle United.
In a high-stake clash on Thursday, the Spanish outfit will travel to face the Premier League side at the St James’ Park, with both teams yearning for maximum points.
Yamal returned to Barcelona injured after representing Spain during the September international break, missing the sides La Liga clash against Valencia. In his absence, the Catalan giants cruised to a resounding 6-0 win over Valencia to close the gap on Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old winger picked up his injury during Spain’s national team camp, where La Furia Roja defeated Bulgaria (3-0) and Turkey (6-0).
Despite Yamal’s improved condition, the enterprising winger is expected to miss the upcoming Champions League clash against Newcastle United. Meanwhile, Yamal’s returns to the team remains unknown.
His absence will surely affect Barcelona, who are keen on making a strong start to the Champions League campaign. The Spanish-Moroccan now joins Frankie De Jong, Gavi, Balde, and Ter Stegen on the sidelines.
The 18-year-old winger has made three appearances in the La Liga this season, scoring two goals and delivering three assists across the period.
