Spain international of Moroccan descent Lamine Yamal continues to shine for Barcelona, inspiring the club to victory in their La Liga clash against Elche.
Yamal played a pivotal role by registering his name on the scoresheet, contributing to Barcelona’s 3-1 away victory against Elche on Saturday.
With this strike, the 18-year-old attacker has matched the great Maradona’s goal tally for Barcelona. Yamal now has 38 goals in official competitions for the Catalan giants, equaling the Argentine legend’s goals scored between 1982 and 1984.
Besides Yamal, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford also found the net for the visitors, ensuring Barcelona remain top of the table.
This season, Yamal, who also has Equatorial Guinea descent has already racked up 13 goals for the Spanish giants. In all competitions, Yamal has racked up 27 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 13 goals and contributing 12 assists for the club.
The highly-profiled winger will be hoping to maintain his form throughout the campaign, as Barcelona chase for laurels. Last season, the young attacker finished second on the Ballon d’Or and will be setting sights on bagging the award this time.
