Spain international of Guinea-Bissau descent Ansu Fati is expected to mark his injury return for AS Monaco when they take on Nantes in the French Ligue 1 on Friday.
The 23-year-old, who is currently on loan at the Principality club from Barcelona, has been sidelined for Monaco’s last two outings due to injury.
He missed the Coupe de France defeat to RC Strasbourg before sitting out on the French Ligue 1 clash against Nice.
Fati’s absence stemmed from a calf problem sustained during Monaco’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Stade Rennais, a match in which he was forced off at half-time as a precaution.
After undergoing treatment and a carefully managed recovery process, the Spanish international has now shaken off the injury and is back to full fitness.
Speaking at a pre-match conference, Monaco head coach Sébastien Pocognoli delivered a positive update on the attacker’s condition, confirming Fati’s return to full training session on Wednesday, a strong indication that he is ready to rejoin the matchday squad for the clash with Nantes.
“Ansu trained fully with the group,” Pocognoli revealed, suggesting the forward is firmly in contention to feature on Friday. His availability is a timely boost for Monaco as they look to maintain momentum in the league.
Since joining Monaco, the enterprising attacker has made 18 appearances, scoring eight goals across competitions.
