Spain forward of Ghanaian descent, Nico Williams, has revealed that he was affected by transfer speculations last summer.
The youngster last summer was linked with a move away from Athletic Club after a fantastic campaign in the 2023/24 football season.
Speaking in a recent interview, the forward said the rumours affected him a lot.
“Everything that happened around me affected me. Some people didn’t understand and criticized me, but that’s just part of football. I’m a 22-year-old guy. All that noise affects you; you don’t know how to manage things, and a lot of stuff gets out in the press. At first, I was upset and frustrated, to put it bluntly. But with the support of the whole team and the fans, I’ve been able to grow and play my best football,” Nico Williams said.
Even though the forward has handled the situation well, there is still noise about his future.
Reports suggest that he is still a transfer target of a lot of clubs, including Arsenal and Barcelona.
He has constantly stated that he is happy at Athletic Club and wants to do his best for the team.
