Spanish-Ghanaian attacker Nico Williams torn over Arsenal summer transfer

Spain international of Ghanaian descent Nico Williams is currently struggling to decide on his future as the summer transfer window approaches.

Williams is one of the most sought-after players heading into the transfer window following his outstanding performance for Athletic Bilbao.

Since making his debut in 2021 for Athletic Bilbao, the 22-year-old has established himself as key member of the team, scoring 31 goals in 164 appearances. This season he has 11 goals in 42 games.

Williams, who opted to represent Spain over Ghana has emerged as a top transfer target for Arsenal as the Gunners seeks to bolster their attack. Despite expressing interest, the club has yet to make an official offer.

The enterprising attacker is now torn over whether to join Arsenal or stay at Athletic Bilbao this summer should the Premier League giants submit an offer.

Williams is well attached to his hometown club and will find it difficult to leave. Meanwhile, the forward would likely stay should his outfit secure qualification to the Champions League.

Arsenal would want to trigger Williams’ €58 million release clause in his contract at Athletic Bilbao, however, his high wage demands have made negotiations over personal terms tricky.

The forward came close to joining Barcelona last summer but the move fell through due to monetary issues.
