Jose Riveiro’s time at Al Ahly has officially come to a quiet end, with the Spaniard making one last visit to the club on Monday morning.
The coach, who parted ways with the Red Devils after a string of disappointing results, including a 2-0 defeat to Pyramids FC, returned to Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium to collect his belongings before flying out of Egypt.
Al Ahly’s sporting director Mohamed Youssef had earlier called a meeting with the technical, administrative, and medical staff at the stadium. According to a source who spoke to Kooora, Youssef and Emad El Nahhas decided to organize a small farewell gathering for Riveiro.
He added, “The ceremony will be attended by Ribeiro’s entire support team, which worked with him in Egypt.”
The coach’s departure followed the team’s drop to 13th place in the Egyptian Premier League standings, an unexpected low for a club with such a proud history. While results on the pitch did not go as planned, Riveiro leaves Egypt with appreciation from colleagues who worked closely with him during his brief stay.
