However, according to L’Équipe, Valverde has politely declined Barcelona’s approach, having been contacted by sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta. His reasoning is clear: Valverde wants to continue his project with Athletic Bilbao, especially with the club on the verge of securing Champions League football next season.
With just two games remaining in La Liga and Bilbao comfortably in the top four, Valverde is focused on leading the Basque club into Europe’s elite competition, marking a major milestone for both him and the team.
